Research Summary
ProfessorBuyandelger studies the development of neoliberal capitalism, democratization, and new and re-emerging cultural practices in post-socialist world, specifically, in Mongolia. After completing her first project on proliferation and commercialization of previously suppressed shamanic practices, she is studying the ways in which national elections and electoral campaigns create new cultural practices, discourses on the transformation of gender, nationalism, and state formation.
