Project Start Date January 2023
Professor Wang's Lab is interested in understanding the brain from molecules to systems: (*) The molecular basis of cell identity and states: how does epigenetic information (e.g. DNA modification) encode cell identity and response to neural activity? (*) Decentralized gene regulation: how do the kinetics and patterns of RNA lifecycle impact neural function? (*) Chemoaffinity of neural network assembly: what are the molecular cues guiding the formation of neural circuits?
With 3D in situ sequencing of nucleic acids (DNA/RNA) as the core technology platform, we use a variety of synthetic and analytical approaches, such as nucleic acid chemistry, organic synthesis, polymer engineering, microscopy, optogenetics, electrophysiology and computation. The lab members typically work in one or more types of lab space: chemical/biochemical bench, tissue culture room, microscope room, animal facility and computational workstation.
