We utilize multiscale simulation and experimental techniques to design sustainable and durable construction and building materials. These materials incorporate volcanic ash, a local resource to our Kuwaiti colleagues, which results in a lower environmental footprint compared to a traditional Portland Cement material. Our framework focuses on the development of mesoscale models to connect underlying chemistry and structure to macroscale engineering properties such as strength, stiffness and creep behavior. These models span from nanometers to hundreds of microns to connect fundamental atomistic processes with continuum behavior.
