Engineering Science and Technology Program

The primary objective of the Engineering Science and Technology Program is to develop innovative technologies that will aid in the understanding, modeling, detection, and treatment of cancer. The following are some of the important research project areas ongoing in EST: implantable microdevices for continuous cancer monitoring, biocompatible quantum dots for imaging, new classes of materials for achieving RNA interference in vivo, formulations for coordinated temporal release of antioangiogenics and cytotoxic drugs, aptamer-targeted drug delivery in prostate cancer, gold nanorods for ablation, and microfluidic devices for measuring the physical properties of individual cancer cells.
